A legacy page for WebMD Health Services gets updated

WebMD Health Services (WHS) provides its corporate clients with a portal to empower their customers to improve their health. Health data from users can be fed into the portal (via Fitbits and their ilk) to facilitate a dashboard experience tracking one’s personal goals. This UI project acted as infill for gaps in activity during the principal project I was contracted to do which was updating the Style Guide and design library from Sketch to Figma.

OVERVIEW

The Problem Statement

When our third party vendor ceased to provide all the models available from fitness trackers like Fitbit, this prompted a web page update to simplify how users could connect their devices. This was also an opportunity to apply the new UI to the page.

Audience

Remained unchanged: adults working at client corporations and those insured by our health-insurance-company clients.

The Solution

Removing the intermediate page showing specific device models from supported manufacturers simplified the user process. Feedback was provided on three possible states for a device: ‘available’, ‘connected’ and ‘featured’ (which highlighted the WebMD app.) The search function logic was worked out to update live as one typed.
