Editorial
Much of my career has been at major magazine publishers, and I was deputy of a team that won the most prestigious award in that field, besting Sports Illustrated, National Geographic and Newsweek. Editorial is great training in branding, volume/speed of work, conceptualizing appropriate imagery, and art direction.
PAIN SOLUTIONS As the leader on design, I successfully repositioned this magazine tilted toward a mature woman with a lifestyle feel rather than go with the proposed medical imagery. In addition to creating the branding and designing all the pages, I hired and led the team of photographers, illustrators, freelancers and a commercial printer.
SHAPE I hired the majority of the illustrators for the magazine while gaining invaluable experience producing photo shoots and directing teams while on set.
PARENTING Rising to deputy, I contributed to all photo and illustration decisions, led teams on special issues, oversaw prepress and signed off on all pages. We won the industry’s highest honor from ASME for ‘General Excellence.’
